Sometimes it has to be the bear

Some time back, I was partaking in my weekly trivia game. I was at the table with my son and our other two teammates. All good. Anyway, as I was writing the answer to a question, some random leaned over to me and muttered, "The answer's ...". I cannot recall what the question and answer were, and it is a moot point because I recall I had already written the answer, and his help was not required. Not only was his so-called assistance unnecessary, it had not been sought. Now, for those of you who do not play trivia, it is important to understand that if you are at a venue where the game is on, do not - even if there is a weapon pressed against your person - give an unsolicited answer to a player because WE FUCKING HATE THAT! Part of the fun of a trivia game is working out the answer, and that fun is spoiled when some deadshit takes it upon his- or herself to give you the answer.

So, you're probably wondering how I handled this faux-pas from the gauche goon, resplendent in his flanno and clutching his middy of VB. I was polite. Despite my annoyance, I addressed him in a civil manner. My voice was calm. I'm well-spoken and am told I have a rather good speaking voice, and I employed these qualities as I replied in mannerly tones, "Can you not do that?"

The guy was clearly personally affronted. One would think I had slagged off his mother and insulted his manhood, and in this man-baby's mind, I probably had. His eyes flashed. His nostrils flared. His upper lip curled into a predatory lupine snarl. His parting short as he started to storm away was, "Thanks for being a bitch!"

My response was, "And fuck you, too!"

As well as being offended, I was puzzled. Why was this bad for the guy, who is the epitome of why women choose the bear? My teammates, bless them, were infuriated with him. But fancy being upset that a woman doesn't want you to help her in trivia. We were still awaiting the air date for the Mastermind Australia grand final, and my team chuckled at the thought that he would probably burst into tears when he realised he was trying to help one of the competitors.

One the plus side, it was some rando whom I've not seen at the club for a while. Could have been worse; it might have been Piers Morgan. My X-feed has been mercifully free of him for a while, but today, I had a look, and there he was. Bitching and beefing about Meghan Markle, a woman whom he has had in his crosshairs ever since she declined a luncheon or a drink or something that would have had her stuck in his uninspiring presence. Piers is that trivia rando to the nth power. The vitriol and poison he has thrown at Meghan over the past few years has been at a level that would see a non-celebrity slapped with a restraining order and a mental health assessment. Much of it has been beyond nasty. Anyway, his current gripe is that Meghan Markle has done nothing about a notification she received from Scotland Yard in 2019, wherein they advised having received a letter whose content referred to allegations against her father regarding exploitation of children.

Well, what the fuck is she meant to do, Piers? Isn't investigating allegations the job of the police, not her? In 2019, she and her husband Harry were working members of the Royal family, which would preclude them from commenting. Also, there is the real risk of a public comment prejudicing a criminal investigation.

I don't recall seeing any flack heaped upon Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice regarding their silence over their sleazy bag of slime father Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, so why not just leave Meghan alone?

My advice to Piers and other guys who cannot cope with a woman's lack on interest:

1. Get over it.

2. Move on.

3. The more you act like a totally unhinged twatwaffle who uses his platform to decry, abuse, and generally act like a toddler about that woman, the more you galvanise in that woman's mind that her decision was the right one.

Thank you for reading. I had best prepare dinner now.
